How was changing sites (Lindsay High school to loma vista) beneficial to my post-high school plan?10/21/2016 I joined Loma Vista late August. The start to my senior year was rough at Lindsay High School. Due to improper organization of projects and favoritism, I found that site to be extremely hazardous to my future. I tried my best to be the best student while also trying to beg for help with college and requirements set in place. However, this clearly wasn't enough as a student and I decided another option would be best. By no means am I trying to slander Lindsay High, however they simply didn't meet my needs as a student. I don't feel I got as much help at Lindsay High as I have after joining Loma Vista. Not only have the teachers been helpful at Loma Vista, but the staff members are also as attentive and helpful. I feel like here at Loma Vista, I was able to actually work at my level. It felt performance-based at Loma Vista vs. Lindsay High. Loma Vista also allowed me to graduate early which was a life-long goal and dream of mine. I always knew I had the potential but I never had the materials. Learning about Loma, I couldn't think of a better plan. I am extremely thankful for being move to Loma Vista for a variety of reasons but I can go on if that was really the case.

It has been about a week and a half since the start of my senior year. So far, there have been so many changes. I changed my university track to diploma track after almost a year of questioning the idea. I finally realized that it was really the best option I have. I do not qualify for financial aid of any type so I would have needed to pay for university right from my pocket. That would have been nearly impossible. So that was just the beginning of my crazy journey. Though I must say, I am less stressed now that I remained true to myself and dropped my track. I am pleased. As of now, I need to get government, english 12, spanish 2 and CNA done to graduate. I know I will meet those requirements. I plan to work extremely hard this year. I am on pace however, I am missing a second year of Physical Education. I have a doctor’s note which allowed me to be excused from weight training. I suffer from numerous conditions that I would rather not even get into. But, that is one thing that is frightening me. If that holds me back from graduation I will be devastated. I have faith that my counselor and the facilitators will accommodate me as best as they can.
My senior project is a huge story. I can say that it is coming along pretty good for the time being, though. I didn’t receive any help on my project since the one time we spent on it my Sophomore year. That time was to build it. I am now doing everything from the beginning. I need to fill out all my information but other than that, I am solid. I know exactly what needs to be done and I am doing my best to work on it whenever I am given a chance. I have all my journals as of late. I need to get my job shadow done. I think that the most exciting part about my project is the job shadow. I cannot wait until I can learn first-hand what a medical professional’s day looks like. I think I am most looking forward to graduation. I don’t say this to be a typical teenager, either. I say this with the utmost seriousness. I cannot wait for graduation for one reason. Once I am walking across that field, I will have just shut one door and opened a billion others. This will commence the beginning of my life. That is an idea that excites me. I am also looking forward to what Leadership has in store as well though. I enjoy this class so much because it is helping me to become a better peer and a better character. I love helping out with the rally’s, posters or whatever else Mrs. Gonzales needs help with. My goals this year that will help with my future would include to 1. Finish strong and 2. Get certified through passing my state board exam for CNA. These two ideas are what will make or break the rest of my life. I really am scared to not pass my state board exam but I know if I study and set my mind to it, I will get it done. I have officially reached my junior year of high school. My last two years have went relatively easy. It was very easy for me to stay on track other than the new teachers. I enjoy the atmosphere now that I am an “upperclassmen,” if you will. The best part of high school is being able to have that freedom from my parents. They’ve always trusted me and I have always done my best to respect that trust. The worst part I would have to say is having to make sure I am meeting all my requirements towards graduation. It isn’t necessarily bad, it is just scary and confusing. Without the proper help, it can be a puzzle to discover what you need to be able to walk across that stage. Although it is not as drastic as senior year requirements, it is eye-opening. One mistake could set you back. The most memorable moments have had to be with my girlfriend. We have been together since August 27 of my freshmen year. We have truly went on so many adventures and I enjoy them quite a lot. Of course, other memories would be hanging with my friends after a long week of school. It is always so relaxing. After school, I really do not do a specific activity. My day is pretty much impacted with helping my family, my girlfriend’s family and whoever else may need help. I feel as if I am on call all day to help. I do plan to go to college. I am taking classes in order to meet the requirements for university track as of now however, I believe I am leaning towards junior college my first two years. Financially I am not available for a university and I also feel for my own learning preferences, I should start off at a junior college. If I continue on university track, I will need Algebra 2, Chemistry, Art and another year of Spanish in order to get into a university. If I end up going to diploma track, I will only need my U.S. History, Government, Spanish and English 11 and 12 and I will be set. My main career choice would be in the medical field somehow. I enjoy the thought of being able to help someone find out what is wrong and help them to feel better. I have always been caring towards others and I know in the medical field that is very important. Since I was young, it has always been a dream to be a doctor. Though, I do have a wide variety of options in the medical field. I believe I may enjoy the rest of my high school career. I am scared for my senior year because my girlfriend will go away to college then but I know that this is a normal part of life. Life, it may get hard at times but I know that I can handle anything thrown my way and that’s exactly what I plan to do.
